Car Rentals
Renting a car is a flexible and comfortable way to discover the beauty of Blois and its surroundings. Any regular car would serve you around the city but if you’re planning to explore the extensive vineyards, an SUV would be recommended for higher ground clearance.
Parking
Parking in Blois may be challenging but not impossible. Public parking lots are available throughout the city – such as Place de la République, Q-park Château, and Place du Martroi.
Speed Limits and Traffic Rules
Road rules in France are similar to most European countries. The speed limit in Blois is 50 km/h in built-up areas, 80 km/h outside the town, and 110-130 km/h on motorways. Remember to drive on the right-hand side of the road and always wear your seatbelt.
Climate
The climate in Blois is temperate. The most pleasant months to visit are June, July and August, when the weather is typically sunny and warm. However, Blois is beautiful year-round, with each season offering its unique charm.

Blois Castle
In the heart of the city is the royal Château de Blois, a landmark that is part history, part art. Throughout the year, it hosts fascinating events including the 'Sound and Light' show, a spectacle that brings the castle's history to life.
Maison de la Magie
Another major attraction is the House of Magic, known as the Maison de la Magie. It's a museum dedicated to magic, illusion and the work of famous French illusionist Robert-Houdin.
Local Events
Blois hosts numerous events throughout the year, such as the ‘BD Boum’ comic book festival in November, the ‘Art and Music’ Festival in the summer, and the 'Christmas Market' in December.
Currency
The local currency in Blois is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's always a good idea to have some cash on hand for small businesses or market stalls.
Day Trips
From Blois, you can easily visit other famous chateaux of the Loire Valley, including Chambord, Chenonceau, and Cheverny. The vineyards of Vouvray and Montlouis-sur-Loire are within short driving distance too.
