Hardly any other airport in Europe makes it easier to return a rental car than Amsterdam Airport. Just take the A4 and follow the signposts to return your rental car and don't forget to refuel your rental car in case of a fair refuelling scheme.
Do you have to return your rental car with a full tank? Then you don't have to worry about finding a 24/7 petrol station in Amsterdam, as there is both a TOTAL and a CGN petrol station at the airport. However, you should leave early enough for the airport, as it can get quite crowded at the two filling stations during peak hours in the afternoon.
Whether Anne-Frank-Haus or Van Gogh-Museum, the enchanting Amsterdam, which is really worth a city trip at any time of the year, offers more than 190 sights and over 150 museums, so that a weekend is not enough to get to know all the beauty of the city. In particular, a visit to the Rijksmuseum or the Portuguese synagogue and a stroll through the charming Negen Straatjes should be part of your programme, as well as a canal cruise that is sure to be remembered for a long time to come. If you have planned a longer stay and would like to make some detours in the surrounding area, we have put together some distances and driving times for you below.

But there is also a wide range of taxis, from standard taxis to group taxis to business taxis and direct train connections.
With more than 60 million passengers a year, Amsterdam Airport is one of the largest airports in Europe, and you can be sure that there is no shortage in its terminal. Visit the Holland Boulevard between lounges two and three, relax in the XpresSpa, relax on the roof terrace of the Airport Park, stop off at one of the many cafés and restaurants, go shopping in the duty-free shops or visit a reconstructed toy plane with your children, where the little ones can have fun and excitement.
It is almost too bad to spend only one weekend in Amsterdam, as there is much more to see and discover in and around the province of North Holland. Just hang on to your stay in the Netherlands for a few more days and take your rental car on a fascinating round trip or at least make one or two interesting detours.
Take your rental car in the direction of Den Helder and visit the Naval Museum, cross the Ijsselmeer from Den Oever, stroll a little through the historic city of Leeuwarden, take a look at the synagogue of Groningen, take a boat trip in the National Park Weerribben-Wieden and stop in Utrecht with its wonderful flower market and, in any case, stop for a walk on your return journey.
